Golden Retriever Colors
Golden Retrievers are known for their dense golden coats. However, not all Golden Retrievers are distinctly “Golden”. In fact, there are five different color variations:
Standard Golden Retrievers: This is the quintessential Golden Retriever color. It’s not too light and not too dark. They’re the most common variety of Golden Retrievers.
Light Golden Retrievers: These are extremely similar to their standard-colored cousins, but a bit lighter. They fall between the cream Golden Retrievers and the standards on the color spectrum.
Dark Golden Retrievers: These are often among the most striking of Goldens with their deep gold coats. They lack the amber or red hues found on the Red Golden Retrievers.
Red Golden Retrievers: These have a reddish tint to their coat, and are often confused with Dark Golden Retrievers. They have amber or red hues in their coat.
White Golden Retrievers: These are also known as English Cream Golden Retrievers. They have a cream-colored coat that is lighter than the Light Golden Retrievers.
While not all of these colors are acceptable in traditional dog shows, they are all pure-bred Golden Retrievers.
